Asking help from Senator Sessions for your G-card is like asking help from Bil Ladan to wipe out islamic terrorism. I w'd be extremely curious to read his reponse if you get one at all.
This guy was talking about benefits of legal immigration and introducing Canada/Australia style G-card system only a few weeks ago when law makers were discussing illegal immigration. When it came to legal immigration, then he stood against it like a wall of ice. Talk of people using divide and rule, he is the perfect example of that.
On a sad note, it seems even Dems are doing the same thing. When Cornyn wanted to put our bill in India Nuke bill, Joe Biden said dems will take that up along with CIR next jan. Same old game of promises and betrayal. Now even dems will not be taking up CIR next year as this has been turned into a very sentimental issue now by Lou dobbs and his xenophobic racist gang. Did not you see Nancy Pelosi's agenda for january? They are worried about their presidential and house races in 2008 and don't want to take any chance. Harry Reid might say this is one of the first things on his agenda next year and Tad Kennedy and McCain might keep meeting and talking over a cup of tea, but we have seen all this drama so many times that it does not thrill us any more.
Bottomline, we are not needed the way we used to be in '70s and '80's and so be contended with the current pace of g-card processing. If you have patience and luck, stay here, else leave.

2. Allowing EB immigrants to apply for three year work permits instead of one year work permits which they have to renew every year. This lets us renew our drivers licenses also every three years instead of every one year.
3. Forcing FBI to completing fingure print checks and background checks in a timely fashion instead of current waits which stretch to three years or more.
4. Processing labor certifications in the backlog elimination centers by September 2007 as promised to Congress in the past.
5. Ability to file for I-485 petition, even when the priority is not current. This would help lots of people in the retrogressed categories of immigration.

So you are laid off so what is the big deal? You should be able to negotiate somehow or escape layoffs by doing something or the other. There are people in my company who survived 6 layoffs. Your layoff is your problem and nothing is fair in the globalization.

Please keep in mind that the US healthcare system is for-profit. That means that there are too many bureaucratic, legal and business reasons for either treating or not treating the patient. There might be cures or procedures or therapies out there, that your doctor or hospital is not interested in because its not covered by your insurance as it is labelled as "Experimental".
Insurance companies are like maggots. They love premiums but when it comes to claims, they try to swipe as many cures and procedures as possible under the rug of "Experimental treatment" so that they dont have to pay.
I would suggest that you do all you can to seek immigration advise but please consider going to India for a month and getting a second opinion from Apollo or AIIMS or such high-quality Hospitals.
I would not trust the for-profit, suck-all-blood-dry, deny-care and inhumane healthcare system of this country where the care-givers and the insurance companies are in collusion with each other to maximize profits and do whatever it takes to maximize profits even when it means that some people die and others go bankrupt even after paying insurance.
Please make sure you try Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai they specialize in Cancer treatment http://tmc.gov.in/.
I am not trying to make you feel good but sharing personal experiance. One of my relative was diagnosed with fatal cancer. As part of final effort they visited TMC if there is a cure. To their surprise they found Cancer to be false alarm it was just a non malignant tumor.
Mistakes do happen and I hope it happened with you too.

The rule should be if I140 for porting is denied then the applicant should loose his/her initial EB3 priority date also as he /she has indicated that he/she is no longer working in the position as described in EB3 labor. If we can focus on some really shocking statistics....data...and request some reasonable media personnel to discuss and take up as a story...it would be more helpful than all flower campaigns...and other forms of protests. I wrote to Fareed Zakaria today and you can do so as well. We can try other famous personalities on CNN such as Soledad O�Brien. If you know anybody on the Fox News side who might sympathize and investigate the issue, try them as well. Every media and politicians bracket us in the same group as illegals or fraud H1Bs...that image needs to change before something can happen...its absolutely bizarre and immoral in my opinion when the head of DHS cannot go to congress and say that there is an unfair situation for Legal Immigrants from India/China in the immigration system and she needs temporary assistance in fixing the system. Sec of State and Head of DHS surely have the authority to refer an unfair situation in the congress for a temporary legislative solution until the CIR is addressed.

Cancelled 4 tickets and lost 1000 bucks. Was to fly on 6th. Never expected dates will move. MY PD Nov 2001 EB3 India.
Hoping to get receipts by 20th. Is that a fair assumption? Planning to re-book for 22nd.
Don't want to lose another dime on cancellations and re-bookings.
Advice and share your thoughts.

Congratulations..my application was received by NSC on July 2nd too, and I haven't received anything yet..hope i will get it sometime soon...so are all the applications that went to NSC on July2nd are getting transfered to TSC ??

What we are asking is just fairness and transparency in the system.

Hey All,- I've not been that active, but will try to be hence forth. Below are my proposals to rephrase the present 'Flower Campaign" press release. I'm open to suggestions.
I felt the need to explain "why the over subscription and what part USCIS had in it" and also in the mean time point to the "overzealous work done by USCIS on June 30 and July 1st".
Sentence in the press release: However, due to over-subscription, thousands of highly-skilled workers, including engineers, scientists and health care professionals have been waiting patiently for years in order to be eligible to apply for their Green cards.
My take on this: Due to inefficiency of USCIS in the past years, 187,000+ visas have been wasted according to Ombudsman report. This act is to be blamed partly for the present scenario of over-subscription of thousands of law abiding and tax paying highly-skilled workers, including engineers, scientists and health care professionals who have been waiting patiently for years in order to be eligible to apply for their Green cards.
USCIS's sudden backlog reduction efforts during the past month have resulted in the use of almost 60,000 Employment numbers among which 18,000 were used on June 30 (Saturday) and July 1st (Sunday) according to (Quote source).

EB3 best chance is to have the Visa Recapture which is already being pursued or have some other legislative fix.

Santosh_gc, I don't have a problem when you talk about illegals getting ahead of legals etc. But the comment about illegal immigrants bringing corruption into the U.S. was way out of line. It is unfair that illegal immigrants may get ahead of legal immigrants. Let us leave it at that and not speculate on how they might introduce corruption into society. No discussions on how they break the law when they enter the country - that is a bogus argument. Just about every one of us breaks the law every time he/she gets behind the wheel of a car, unless you claim you always drive the speed limit. By your logic, then every immigrant from India can be disallowed as we are exposed to as much corruption in India as there is in Mexico and we might infect the U.S. culture just as much. Bkam's comments didn't add any value to the discussion and were just offensive.
I am sorry stucklabour but a traffic/speeding violation is a misdemeanour and not breaking the law. Being in this country illegally is actually breaking the law. Now i am not going to get suckered into a whole legals v/s illegals debate, but at some level i do feel that undocumented workers HAVE broken the law. Besides the argument that "everyone does it" really doesnt cut it. 10 wrongs do not make 1 right. If you look at the punishment for the 2 things a speeding violation leads to a simple fine, a violation of Visa leads to deportation.
Now i personally dont care, whether the US Govt asks the undocumented to stay or leave. What i DO care about is, how we, the legals are treated. So whether the illegals are mexican, indian, chinese, cambodian or actual aliens from Mars, the policy should be: "If you come the right way, you will make it in, if you come the wrong way, you will either NOT make it in at all, OR will have to wait much longer than the people who came in the right way". So poeple pls stop the "racist" remarks against Just the Mexican community and culture. ok. Assuming BILL pass during the lame-duck session... what is timeline for it take effect? I believe the president has to signed it and it take 90 days from that date to be effective? Experts?

If Democrats win the House (which they most probably will - maybe with a small majority): Would then there be a Compromise on the CIR which the Republicans didnt even want to talk about ?
Someone in this thread pointed out that in the lame duck session is held with the current members, that would mean we wouldnt have a compromise in the lame duck session.
Then the new Congress would come in and the Bills would have to be passed in the Senate all over again, right? ( Just asking as I dont know the whole process).
